My Friend Fire is the first of five elemental Gentle Tarot companion decks. Every detail of these 60 hand-illustrated cards and guidebook was chosen with mental health and well-being in mind. With loving reminders for pause, My Friend Fire is a colorful companion for growth and times of change.
The deck is divided into five suites with corresponding color borders: Listening - green, Nourishment - blue, Expansion - orange, Reflection - coral, and Transformation- purple, – in addition to five borderless bonus cards and two black/white border cards inspired by the Gentle Tarot's bonus Major Arcana, The Unseen. The suites progress through a healing/transformation journey and the suites themselves also progress in thoughtful stages of their own.
Birthed in the same spirit as the Gentle Tarot, My Friend Fire gently decolonizes the card reading practice by inviting connection and direct relation to our natural world and by reminding the reader that the rewilding of the heart and spirit is a birthright.
Although a booklet with card descriptions is provided, this deck - with its symbol-laden imagery and descriptive/thoughtful card titles - makes it easy for readers of all experience levels to readily receive direct communication from the cards.
My Friend Fire was published in 2025 by Mari in the Sky with a total of 2,690 printed of the First Edition and 2,920 printed of the Luxe Linen Edition making this Mari's most limited print edition to date.
The First Edition is printed on 350gsm art paper with matte, anti-scratch laminate finish to match the Gentle Tarot First Edition. Size is traditional tarot size: 70mm x 120mm. This edition includes a color booklet, matte gold gilding on card edges, gold stamping on the card backs and gold stamping details on the card box.
The Luxe Linen Edition is printed on 330gsm German Black Core, the highest quality paper available, with a poker/butter finish and linen texture=. Size is slightly shorter and matches the Gentle Tarot Linen Edition: 70mm x 105mm. This edition includes a color booklet, matte gold gilding on card edges, gold stamping on the card backs and gold stamping details on the card box.
